News reaching our editorial desk from Makerere University Business School (Mubs) indicates how they have arrested a student who had made it a habit to steal bags during tests, examination periods and even from the library.
Donald Kawanguzi, registration number 15/u/15896/PS, and a second-year student of Business Computing, was yesterday captured and dragged to the cells by the guild Education minister, Albert Arinda.Kawanguzi was caught red handed picking a fellow student’s bag from the Business school’s main library.
While being questioned at the guild chambers before being dragged to police, Kawanguzi said this was his first time to attempt stealing a bag, though most students said he must be the person behind disappearance of hundreds of bags and other property.
While pleading for mercy, Kawanguzi said it’s true he dropped an empty bag in the library and picked one that seemed to contain valuable items, but he asked his fellow students to forgive him as he said he is not ready to go to prison.
Arinda appealed to students to stop leaving valuable or important documents in their bags as they head to the busy examination period, referring to this incident as a revelation that the thieves are amongst them.
