Have you heard of the humongous numbers of students that drop out of University or fail to do end of semester examinations because of tuition mishaps? Makerere University Business School students won’t let this happen.
Under the umbrella of ‘One way, One love’, these students started a charity car wash in Nakawa last week on Saturday in order to raise tuition for their colleagues whose parents cannot afford to raise the money to keep them in school.
Headed by Romulus Tusingire, the former chief fresher of MUBS, the initiative targets assisting only students who cannot afford the tuition and not merely those who squander their tuition money. The students wash cars around Nakawa and the money they receive is remitted towards the initiative.
Romulus also appealed to the government to devise means of keeping students within school. He suggested the provision of loans to students that can be paid letter after their completion.
Mary Nabwire, a MUBS students is one of the students that have benefited from this initiative. She commented on the charity drive.
“My parents cannot raise money to keep me in the University. However, when I got in touch with ‘One way, One love’ in a car wash, I have grossly benefited from it,” said Nabwire.
This great initiative has revived the hope of many students and is a guarantee to an educated generation especially those that get in touch with the ‘One way, One love.’.
