The Bamasaba Makerere University Students’ Association, MUBS has come up with a programme aimed at saving Bududa landslide victims which has been dubbed #LetsSaveBududa.
The association has staged a tent near the University’s main building where willing students can donate basic needs such as clothes, shoes, money and other items needed for home use. The Bamasaba association has also produced T-shits with words ‘#Lets Save Bududa’ which are being sold at only UGX 20,000. The money raised from the sold T-shirts will be used to buy items that will be taken to the landslide victims in eastern Uganda.
The philanthropic campaign involves students, lecturers and the administration collecting shoes, clothes, blankets, mattresses and other items that would be needed by the victims. So far, the Bamasaba Association has collected nine bags of clothes for both men, children and women.
The MUBS administration has offered a bus to transport a few students and the donations slated to be transported next Monday, 29th October. The MUBS staff has also collected its own package of clothes in addition to money which are all set to be taken to Bududa come next week.
The Bamasaba Association has taken the campaign to various lecture rooms at MUBS as they move door to door sensitizing students about the complicated life being faced by Bududa landslide victims. The deadline for students to submit in their donations is this Friday, October 26th.
