Your Saturday mornings might turn sour if you are the party animal type that comes back late in the night and reside in hostels along the road leading to Mirembe Hostel from Akamweesi of late due to the alarming number of thieves in the area.
Basing on the fact that MUBs is a warehouse of cute chics and somewhat loaded dudes, thieves have resorted to robbing and beating anyone who moves late in the night along the roads leading to various hostels from Akamweesi Hostel to down town Mirembe hostel and surrounding areas of the railway line.
The recent victims being one Anna Ahumuza, a second year student of Human resource who spoke to us on request that her face remains anonymous and her friend only identified as Rose, both residents of Mirembe hostel.
These two claim to have been coming from Club Amnesia
at around 4:30am when a gang of two mugged mafias launched an attack on them after the railway line on the short cut leading to Mirembe hostel.
‘’After we passed the railway line and were heading to the fence made of iron sheets, two dark guys ambushed us from behind a vehicle parked nearby, at first we thought they were students until one grabbed my hand bag while the other pushed my friend hard on the iron sheet fence”, narrated Ahumuza.
She added: “we managed to break free and run screaming at the top of our voices but no one came to our rescue as the two dark guys vanished in the thick darkness with our belongings.”
According to information gathered by this website, the thieves set
ambush in dark areas leading to students’ hostels while others camp near parked vehicles like cars, trailers disguising themselves as owners. What leaves one baffled is that the scene of robbery of these MUBs students is a stone’s throw distance from the MUBS Police post near the railway line.
Students are therefore called to be vigilant and avoid moving in
lonely areas especially late in the night.
