Makerere University Business School (MUBS) students, through the office of the students Guild, have written a protest letter to their Principal, Professor Waswa Balunywa over examination irregularities.
In a letter dated 22 January 2022, that was leaked to the Bee, angry MUBS students vowed to boycott their forthcoming examinations if the administration doesn’t provide a viable solution to their challenges.
MUBS students cite missing marks in the previously released online examination results that left most of them cursing. Besides, they say quite a number of them don’t have coursework marks as they head into another exam period.
Its worth noting that MUBS students sat for their end of semester one academic year 2020/2021 exams online through their online learning system MUBSEP -MUBS e-learning platform. The results of these ‘technically-glitched’ exams were only released recently.
The students also allege that the institution is rushing the examinations in order to have finalists ready for graduation on the same date as their mother university – Makerere university main campus.
“Its exactly three weeks since the provisional results of the previous academic semester were released. This was followed by unprecedented, unheard of, unexplainable and unimaginable cases of missing marks, retakes and backlogs.” part of the letter reads.
MUBS students, as per the leaked letter that is yet to be officially received by their principal, are demanding that the Nakawa based institution solves these challenges or less be prepared to for their wrath.
MUBS students say they will not be sitting for the forthcoming exams scheduled to commence on 27th January, 2022.
“Students will not come to exams starting on 27th of January. We as students of MUBS will not do these exams unless whatever we are crying at for is sorted,” the letter added.
By the time of publication, the Bee had learnt that the protest letter hadn’t been received officially by the MUBS principal Professor Waswa Balunya.
