After putting up a spirited performance throughout the entire league, last year’s champions MUBS were surely destined to retain yet another UFL tittle. The Nakawa boys stormed the finals after humbling Ndejje University in the semis and ready to face up a much underdog in the league; UMU who had somewhat put up an awesome performance to storm the finals too.
However, the defending champions were not about to let go of their firm grip on the title. In a nipple of time, MUBS was in the lead after putting up an outstanding performance.
The defending champions enjoyed a routine win over UMU in the final played out at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
By the end of the 50th minute, the game was long ended and the champions were long known to the dismay of UMU fans who were seen leaving the stadium. MUBS were once again University champions after thumping UMU 4goals.
Alongside a trophy and gold medals, MUBS received a cash prize of sh2.5m for being champions. However UMU did not go back home empty-handed. As runners-up, they took silver and a cash prize of sh1.5m, while Ndejje University, the second runners-up, bagged sh1m. Ndejje beat Makerere University 2-0 in the third-place match.
