Makerere University Business School has issued a fresh warning to students ahead of examinations, outlining strict penalties for anyone involved in malpractice and reminding learners of the standards expected in the exam environment.
In a notice from the Office of the School Registrar, students were urged to avoid any behavior that could jeopardize their academic standing. The reminder comes as the school prepares for end of semester assessments.
The Registrar cautioned students against carrying unauthorized materials into examination rooms. These include mobile phones, smart watches, smart glasses, earpieces, electronic pens, summarized notes, and any other gadgets or items that could facilitate cheating. Firearms and other prohibited objects were also highlighted.
The notice also warned against presenting forged documents such as fake examination permits, altered financial statements, or tampered provisional permits. According to the Registrar, any attempt to falsify documents will be treated as a serious offence.
Students were further instructed not to communicate with each other during exams. The school stressed that even minor interactions can raise suspicion and disrupt the examination environment. The use of impersonators was also strictly banned.
The Registrar emphasized that invigilators must be treated with respect. Physical or verbal assault, threats, or harassment of staff will attract severe disciplinary action.
The notice also reminded students not to tamper with or destroy exhibits related to ongoing malpractice investigations, as this is considered an obstruction of the disciplinary process.
Finally, students were urged to maintain discipline in the examination rooms and avoid any disruptive behavior that could affect others.
Eldred M. Kyomuhangi Manyindo, the School Registrar, signed the notice, underscoring MUBS’ commitment to maintaining integrity and fairness during examinations.
The school encouraged all students to prepare adequately and approach exams with honesty, discipline, and respect for university rules.
