MUBS Wins University Debate Nationals 2021

Makerere University Business School was yesterday declared winners of this year’s University Debate Nationals.

MUBS outcompeted Kyambogo University and Gulu University trams in the final to grab victory in a closely contested face-off. This year’s Debate Challenge was organised by Open Space Center, a Youth oriented NGO that brought together around 20 Universities.

Best speakers at the event were recognised with the James Ogola Award;

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) President Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and had this to note;

“As you prepare to be leaders, and get more skills even in politics, you must determine where you move crowds to – because words have the power to build or destroy”

In this year’s University Debate Nationals, 21 universities from across Uganda participated in this 5-Days tournament, over 40 teams, 8 teams made it to the semi-finals and only 4 battled in the finals.

The teams in the final included a team from MUBS (winner), two teams from Kyambogo University and another one from Gulu University.
