As the norm is, towards the completion of the semester, students are expected to clear up their tuition fees in order to be allowed into examination rooms.
Ms. Shamim Nambassa, the Makerere University students guild present has launched a project dubbed ‘Students’ Trust Fund’ to help solicite funds towards underprivileged students pursing their studies in the institution.
“I am pleased to proudly introduce to you the students trust fund. If we are to achieve our graduation goals together, leaving not a person behind,let our hearts grow bigger and we fight to see them in the examination rooms,” she said.
The project rotates on a slogan, leaving no one behind.
She added that the rate at which university students are dropping out of school is worrying thus coming up with the move to make sure everyone graduates.
“The rate of university dropout lies at 30 persons per every 100 who start a given course together.”
In the new fund-raising campaign, the 87th guild carbinet came up with a bank account named ‘Rebuild Makerere University’ and as well provided options for mobile money depositing for any kind hearted.
Makerere University examinations are expected to commence April 25,2022 according to the 2021/2022 university academic calendar.
