Mukiibi Ibrahim, 23, a second year student of radiology at Mengo hospital needs saving after his kidney failure problem worsened. Mukiibi was diagnosed with Kidney Failure over 5 years ago when only one kidney was sick.
He embarked on treatment only later to be diagnosed again and both kidneys were very much infected and in their end stage. Mukiibi then needed an urgent kidney transplant hence his family mobilised funds and flew him to India with his uncle as donor and one kidney was replaced. Unfortunately, his body rejected the new kidney after a while.
Mukiibi is currently under dialysis although doctors recommend that he undergo another kidney transplant as soon as possible. Fortunately, a kidney donor was already acquired but unfortunately, the family lacks funds to fly Mukiibi and the kidney donor back to India.
On Sunday, there was a Save Mukiibi Walk from UMA show grounds through Kololo, Hotel Africana, centenary Park, and back to UMA show grounds in a bid to fundraise for Mukiibi. 80 million Ugx is what is needed to save Mukiibi but only 20 million Ugx has been collected.
