Herbert Elema, famously known as Mc or Dj Shugga (which ever slides off the tongue easier) is a renown entertainer and event organizer in the more lively and bustling parts of Mukono and needs no introduction to the ferocious party animals that mieme UCU and the newly announced Limkokwing University.
What’s now profoundly shocking to many of the Dj’s enthusiastic devotees is the revelation of his day job, a secondary school english teacher. A declaration that has left them to wonder how he balances these two very different yet extremely needy professions that are termed mutually exclusive by society.
Speaking with the acclaimed Elema who goes by Shugga Shugga as his social handles, our reporter learnt of the seemly suppressed multiple personality that allows the English teacher to maintain his required seriousness and professionalism while attending to students after which he resorts to his enthusiastic entertaining self all while not having a chronic nervous breakdown as most lay men would.
“I studied education from Kyambogo University and actually like teaching despite its many hindrances for example the salaries of arts teachers compared with their science colleagues. Nevertheless I enjoy entertaining people and consider this my true calling. I Dj and Mc for many clubs all over the country but mostly in Mukono, not because I fear the competition but because of its vibe. I find that people there have a different way of expressing delight which is something I find amusing.” Dj Shugga disclosed to our reporter.
To those who might not relate with or recall the fore mentioned Mukono sensation, you might remember him as the man responsible for the famous epic “campus nites” at 680 lounge every Friday, hive party planner and Dj ,MC for “Glory of Love” airing on Life Tv and also people mobilizer for Casablanca Mukono. Attached is a covid-19 mixtape which he requested be passed along to his fans to get them through the extended lockdown with more featured on audio mac till clubs open again.
