Mulago “taking its time” to issue cancer patient Carol Atuhirwe medical referral

Cancer patient, Carol Atuhirwe should already be in the United States as we write this undergoing treatment. This, however isn’t the case as she is still frustrated without a medical visa because the Medical Board in Mulago has not issued her a medical referral as yet.

A medical referral is required by the American Embassy before a medical visa is issued.

Here’s an update from the #SaveCarol chief organiser, Muhereza Kyamutetera.

“Many of you have been asking why isn’t Atuhirwe Carol gone for treatment, now that we have the money needed? Apparently the Medical Board in Mulago is taking time to give us the referral needed to the US, which we will then use to secure a medical visa and subsequently fly out.

The latest we know is that they said they will sit on Tuesday to decide our case!!! I do not wish to interfere with the medical profession, but I know every minute is critical in saving Carol. Once again I urge all of us Ugandans to rise up again and show Mulago how angry we can get. We need our Carol airborne like yesterday. Tweet and share ‪#‎Cry4Carol‬“
