A section of students in support of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party from universities including Makerere, Kyambogo, King ceasor, Kampala International University (KIU) among others have recommended the solitary candidature of President Yoweri Museveni for another term, come the next elections in 2026.
Discoursing at an event celebrating 10 years of existence of the NRM student chapter, which took place at Kampala International University – Kampala, the students argue that Mr Museveni still has the zeal and energy to drive the country to achieve its dreams economically and socially.
Mr Benard Katanzi, a student from Kampala International University, who doubles as the forthcoming spearhead of the NRM chapter at the same institution asked that President Museveni’s efforts be recognized for the service he has delivered.
“We just have to appreciate President Museveni for what he has done. We should all be happy and ask him too stand come 2026. There is no way we can lose such a commendable leader” Mr Katanzi said.
With unemployment of youths shooting up by the day, Bosco Tumuramye – the outgoing chairperson of the NRM students chapter, says that the matter is one that should be taken up collectively by the concerned.
He further expressed how he is confident about the country being in safe hands with the head of state.
