The academic registrar of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Dr. Martha Kyoshaba has revealed that students will not sit for mid semester examinations in this semester.
In a letter dated 7th February 2022 to all MUST students and staff, Dr Kyoshaba communicated this was senate’s decision in line with the length of the semester.
‘’Senate at its 85th sitting directed that due to the length of semester 1, 2020/2022, there shall not be mid semester examinations. Senate however guided that as per examination regulation sec.2.2.1, lecturers may administer either two or one test and one assignment/take-home test,’’ the letter reads
It should be recalled that even in the previous semester, MUST students didn’t sit for mid semester exams while they were studying online. Students were given take home assignments which contributed to their final marks.
According to MUST examination rules and regulations, mid semester and course works were contributing 40% to the student’s final semester marks.
