The management of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has banned the entry of bags inside the university.
This follows two bombs which blasted yesterday in Kampala the capital city of Uganda killing and injuring 6 and 36 people repectively.
According to security measures issued by the Uganda Police bags are number one threats.
Rendering to the circular released by the university Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Nixon Kamukama informed MUST community that effective 17th November 2021, no bags will be allowed within the university premises.
‘’In light of the current security threat in the country involving bomb blasts, the university is making all efforts to protect everyone within the university. In so doing, bags have been identified as a serious security threat. This is therefore, to suspend use of bags within the university. Staff and students are therefore informed that with effect from 17th November 2021, security will not allow bags in the university,’’ the circular reads.
MUST has followed other universities such as MUBS, Kyambogo in banning the use of bags within university premises.
