The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) community is mourning the passing of Mr. Silver Katushabe, a long-serving staff member who died on February 14, 2026.
In an official communication issued by Dr. Medard Twinamatsiko, Local Coordinator of the MUST-UCoBS Project, the university described Katushabe as a dedicated and dependable member of staff who served both the MUST-UCoBS Project and the wider university community with distinction.
Mr. Katushabe worked as the project driver under the MUST-UCoBS initiative and also served as a senior driver in the University’s Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies until his retirement. Colleagues remember him as a committed, humble, and reliable professional whose contribution to the institution spanned several years.
“The Local Coordinator MUST-UCoBS Project regrets to inform the MUST community of the passing of Mr. Silver Katushabe,” the statement read, adding that burial arrangements would be communicated at a later time.
The announcement, accompanied by a message drawn from Psalms 34:18 — “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” — reflects the deep sorrow felt across the university.
Members of staff and students have expressed condolences to his family, describing him as a steady presence who carried out his duties with diligence and integrity.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology has extended heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
