Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has announced the establishment of the MUST Council Scholarship Fund, aimed at providing financial assistance to underprivileged but academically exceptional students who are privately sponsored.
The fund aims to alleviate the financial burden and distractions faced by these students, enabling them to pursue their studies with dedication and focus.
‘’The introduction of the MUST Council Scholarship Fund reflects the university’s commitment to supporting underprivileged students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential. By offering financial assistance, the fund aims to create equal opportunities for deserving individuals to pursue their educational aspirations at MUST,’’ Academic Registrar’s department communicated.
In a document released by the Academic Registrar’s department, the MUST Council encourages all eligible candidates to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their applications before the deadline. Successful applicants will be awarded scholarships that will significantly contribute to their tuition fees, enabling them to focus on their studies without the financial burden that often accompanies higher education.
Applications are now open for qualified candidates who meet the eligibility criteria set by the MUST Council. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be East Africans under the age of 25 and currently enrolled at MUST under private sponsorship. Furthermore, applicants should not have any existing scholarship grants or government scholarships to any public university.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, students must have completed their first year of study at MUST and should be the best needy privately sponsored students from their respective faculties, maintaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.6 at the time of application. Additionally, applicants must be in good standing, not gainfully employed, and should not have any retakes in any papers.
All applications for the scholarship will be conducted online, and applicants are advised to adhere to the stipulated deadline. The application form can be accessed through the official MUST website at https://www.must.ac.ug/must-council-excellence-scholarship-application-form/
To complete the application process, candidates are required to submit several documents. These include a partial academic transcript for the previous year, a personal statement accompanied by a recommendation letter from a faculty member, a copy of their National Identity Card, and one recent passport-size photograph.
