Mbarara University of science and technology (MUST) has been credited by a team from Soroti University Engineering department for having modern facilities that facilitate hands-on learning experience among students.
This happened during a benchmarking meeting between the engineering departments of the two institutions held at Kihumuro main campus. This was also aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two institutions in training science and technology-based programmes
The delegation from Soroti was led by Professor Percival Egau, the Dean school of Engineering and Technology and was welcomed by the dean faculty of Applied science and Technology (FAST), Prof obungolochi Johnes who pledged full support towards the development of Soroti University engineering department.
Prof Egau talked about the history of Soroti University engineering department which was established in 2019 to train and extend technical services in computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering to the people in eastern Uganda and Uganda at large.
Prof Egau is one of the great academicians in East Africa and Africa at large in the engineering field. He was part of the team that spearheaded the formulation and establishment of Engineering schools in Kenya, Eswatini and Soroti University where he is serving as the Dean.
MUST and Soroti University were established by the government of Uganda to offer science and technology based courses to aid in solving the existing societal problems in Uganda.
