Giovannah Achieng, a student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology pursuing Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering and Environment Management was crowned Miss Lira City after defeating six other contestants in a land slide victory.
Giovannah, 21, was overwhelmingly elected and crowned to the prestigious position on Saturday at a colorful event in Lira City that drew hundreds of revelers.
First runner up was Rebecca Achieng, second runner up went to Diana Atim, and Miss Popularity went to Robina Acio.
Giovannah Achieng, speaking to Voice of Lango FM after being crowned, said it was a watershed moment for her because she will utilize the position to motivate our young females to be successful in life.
Miss Lira says she was overwhelmed and overjoyed by the affection and trust showered upon her by the public, as she had not anticipated winning first place.
According to the lady’s responses to the questions, top-notch modeling and her dress code are some of the factors that helped her capture the hearts of the public.
If all goes well, Giovennah says her next goal is to win Miss Northern Uganda.
Giovennah was born in Ngetta Lira City East Division, Lira City, and received her A’level education at Gombe Secondary School and her O’level education at St Joseph of Nazareth High School Mpigi
She has taken over the reign of Miss Lira from current Lira City female councilor Shakila Among Mwingi.
