The students’ guild of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) through its Ministry for Off Campus Affairs has cautioned students to mind their lives while moving at night time.
This was communicated by Twesigye Patrick, the current guild minister for off campus affairs after increasing cases of attacks on MUST students in the areas around MUST.
‘’Owing to the unprecedented predicaments that happened in the past few weeks ever since we reported to campus like robbery and death cases in the various residential areas like Katete, Kashanyarazi and Booma, I hereby strongly caution each and every student to be vigilant about their personal security,’’ he communicated.
He comforted the students body that the guild leadership is engaging responsible security personnel and authorities to ascertain that such incidences are permanently curbed. He further advised students residing in high risk places to avoid moving late in the night and if they’re to move, they should move groups of at least four people.
Last week, an unidentified body of a man was found near Katete bridge which connects to MUST and accommodates over 200 MUST students.
Several cases involving robbery have been registered where students’ phones, laptops have been taken away by thugs who attack students on their way back to hostels.
