MUST(Mbarara University School Technology) last week Thursday launched Mbarara University Research Initiative (MURTI), a multi million program aimed at building the research capacity of junior academic staff at the university. The initiative shall emphasize research expertise in the areas of HIV/Aids, Cardiovascular diseaes, neurological disorders and mental health in rural south western Uganda.
The Launch ceremony was presided over by the university chancellor, Prof. Peter Mugyenyi.
The Vice Chancellor and one of the Program Directors of MURTI, Prof. Celestino Obua intimated that the program also aims at training 16 scientists to advance their education up to the level of PhD and provide mentorship for other young academicians. Other staff shall receive training in a number of courses to be offered by the project.
