Well, this world never ceases to amaze, many good things are yet to come!
Now straight to the point!
Orahi is a platform for individual service providers from different service sectors broken down for easy use and access to reach end-users. The service providers here include; police stations, restaurants, delivery systems, boda-bodas, houses, among others.
Dean Nkoba, a fourth year law student at Makerere University conceptualized the original idea and brought people to a dedicated working team including; Mubanza Haggai, Kitaka Grace, Ssembatya Joseph, Mugabi Jude, Agaba Obed Joshua, Esther Atek among others.
The idea is one that is basically making lives easier for humans. Using Orahi, 3 main strengths are guaranteed.
1. Wekume (the safety feature)
2. The social networking function ( coloring individual user profiles based on the class of service providers they interact with)
3. The algorithm
Confused?
This is the best way to understand Orahi.tech;
If a student wants to go out to the club for example;
Using Orahi,
1.Pick a service provider from across 12 different service sectors on the platform ( let’s say the student wants to use the boda-boda services).
2. In case the Boda-boda is for a registered company, the details of the rider are shown, if they aren’t on the platform, the student then takes a picture of the number plate or name and enters the information manually into the system
3.He then provides 5 emergency contacts that the system should contact in case of trouble.
4.He sets a time duration for how long he will be using the service/length of the journey/eating out/duration of the date.
5. Inputs his secret 5 digit code and enjoys with a lot of confidence.
6.When the time frame set in the system is up it will set off an alarm on the phone asking if there is need for an extension or for him to put in his secret pin to shut down the system.
7. If he doesn’t put in the code after 1 minute, the system will send an emergency message to each of his 5 emergency contacts giving them the details provided and asking them to ensure their loved one’s safety.
These steps are easy to follow and switch to the different service providers accordingly.
Among the unique qualities of Orahi is the fact that all individual service providers on the platform are vetted before being added to make sure they are able to deliver customer satisfaction in response to the best demands for the users. Its a Ugandan thing for Ugandans!!
Copyright and content are already in the process with a mathematical algorithm that helps connect users to individual service providers.
The final app version of Orahi, a word in Runyankore to mean “where are you” will display 12 categories and is surely an app to stay.
For more details, visit orahi.tech which is going online on Saturday, 30th April.
Orahi.tech will launch as an app on 9th May 2016.
Uganda is indeed making it!!
