All is not well at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), a public university in western Uganda as the staff teamed up against the suspension of the Public Relations Officer Mr Dennis Lukaaya which was recently issued by the Vice Chancellor.
A letter from Vice Chancellor Prof Celestine Obua who accuses the PRO for inciting violence and other misconduct, orders him to be out of office for not less than one month as university authorities look into his ‘purported’ misconduct.
Mbarara University Of Science And Technology Academic Staff Association (MUSTASA) led by Dr. John Emenyu is expected to declare a final resolution on the matter tomorrow, Tuesday 11 June 2019.
This is yet another standoff adding to the fact that about 540 teaching and non-teaching staff unanimously resolved that the university VC and Secretary ‘MUST’ resign. However, the two are defiant on this decision.
