After successful completion of end of semester examinations, today (27th April 2022) marks the end of first semester of 2022/2023 at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The university management through the deputy vice chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof Nixon Kamukama confirmed the end of semester 1 however, the reopening dates for semester two will be announced soon.
‘’I congratulate you on completing semester 1 2021/2022. The semester 1 2021/2022 will close on Wednesday April 27th 2022 except for Bachelor of Science with Education year three. The reporting date for semester 2 2021/2022 will be communicated to you on May 5th 2022 after the senate meeting,’’ Prof Kamukama communicated to the MUST community.
This communication attracted mixed reactions from students as they were left confused on how long the holiday will run. A week ago, the guild leadership reached out to the students requesting them for their opinions on how long the holiday should be.
According to the Guild president of MUST, there were two suggestions to be debated about, these included having a holiday for two weeks so that the next academic year can go back to normal as it was before covid-19.
Another suggestion was to have a holiday for two months so that the university can be reopened in August when the government has released enough money for the upcoming financial year.
