The management of Mbarara University of Science and Technology has agreed to officially open semester 2 of 2021/2022 academic year in July.

This has been communicated by the university Vice Chancellor Prof Celestno Obua after the senate meeting held on Wednesday, 4th May 2022.

‘’The 87th senate meeting which sat on May 4th 2022, agreed to open semester 11 for 2021/2022 academic year on July 4th 2022,’’ reads the statement issued by Prof. Obua.

This has left many students confused on what next as most of them are still stuck in their hostels while others had paid rent fees for more than two months. This is the case with finalists who were hoping to finalize with their degrees by September 2022.

Other students blamed the university management for rushing them to do examinations yet they had studied for only three months. In their opinion, students suggested that the university would have given them enough study time of about 4 months since there was nothing to chase.
