Following the recent death of a medical student known as Brian Akampulira, fellow students have today morning skipped their lectures and gathered together to raise their voices over the insecurity in the area.
Brian Akampulira, a second year student pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Medicine and Surgery was murdered recently and his body dumped in a swamp along river Rwizi in Katete village. In mid September, another student known as Ssenyonjo Jonathan was severely beaten up in Boma and he was robbed of his phone and money leaving him with serious injuries which haven’t healed up to now.

This student was a first year offering a Bachelors of Science in Planning and Community Development. Another student named Andoma Joseph has been missing since early September. Many more students have been beaten up and robbed of their property in different areas in Boma, Kashanyarazi, Katete, Taso village and Swahili village.
The students who were not satisfied with the security in the area met with the RDC, DPC and the guild president who requested representatives from them and sat down to discuss about the issue. In a closed meeting, they made resolutions on how to address the challenges of security and they were optimistic that action has started and indeed a robust security strategy has been discussed by these top security officers.

Students from these hot spot areas, Kashanyarazi, Katete, Booma, Kiswahili were represented in this meeting.
