Ashiraf Male was on Wedensday elected Muteesa 1 Royal University new Guild President in a tightly contested race. Male, who was running under the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket was endorsed by Kyambogo’s John Mbaziira and Makerere’s David Musiri who physically went to the Rubaga-based campus to campaign for him.
On the other hand, Muteesa 1 Royal University – Kirumba Masaka campus also voted for NUP’s Nakayita Maria Gorreth as their Guild President yesterday.
NUP has once again swept most guild elections as it should be recalled that Kyambogo University voted for John Mbaziira who also belongs to the red camp.
Makerere University is scheduled to hold their guild elections tomorrow Friday 7th May and two NUP candidates will be on the ballot alongside two others. The NUP candidates are Aaron Oguttu and Ivan Ssempijja.
