Mutesa Royal University is not about to open soon even after students vowed to strike if the conditions of re-opening are not met.
Students are unhappy with the conditions of re-opening set by the administration. One condition is that everyone has to have paid tuition fully to sit for papers (which commence immediately the uni is opened- something a number of students say it’s biased and unfair.
Students accuse the administration of being inconsiderate of students’ matters. They had jointly demanded the university be opened soon as possible as the VC had earlier promised.
This condition by the administration has ignited vigor amongst students and many have been heard vowing to start the strike afresh until the administration listens to their plea and restructure the fees structure.
The vice chancellor, Prof Arthur Serwanga has been in hiding since the incident and students nor fellow lecturers could really reveal if he was around and ready to negotiate the conditions for opening the university.
