Sixtus Mwaka who doubles as the former chief fresher has won the just concluded guild elections at Ndejje University after beating his major opponent Amos Ssengendo at both Kampala and main campus.
The results were declared on Saturday by the chairman electoral commission John GarangGieu after tallying all the votes from both campuses. According to Garang, the number of students that turned up to vote their candidates was overwhelming compared to last year’s elections.
Here are the overall election results as per the total of votes cast.
GUILD PRESIDENT
1). MWAKA SIXTUS got a total of 1,231 votes, out of 2476. Invalid votes were 118, that is 52%.
2). SSENGENDO JOSEPH AMOS got 1,127 out of 2476, invalid votes were 118, his percentage is 48%.
VICE GUILD PRESIDENT
1). DON VINCENT BWANA
Total votes 858.that is 35.73%
2). ISINGOMA ELIA
Total votes 779. That’s 32.4%
3). PRINCE MUGENYI SAMUEL
Total votes 764.that is 31.8%
CHAIRMAN MEN’S WING
1). MUGISHA RONALD votes 299 out of 471, that is 65.5%.
2). SENFUKA TWAHA votes 168 out of 471 that is 35.5%. Invalid votes for chairman were 4 only.
CHAIRLADY.
1). AHABWE RITAH.VOTES 97 out Of 306 that’s 31.6%.
2). NABAGASERA ESTHER R. Votes 14 out of 306 that’s 4.57%.
3). NALUYOBYA KHURUTHUM votes 170 out of 306, that’s 55.56%.
Invalid votes were 25 only.
There was rigging of votes by one loyal supporter of Amos Sssengendo at Kampala Campus who was caught red handed trying to sneak pre-ticked ballot papers into the ballot box. He has been arrested after being beaten severely and is currently in police custody. Campusbee will give you details soon.
