Former Makerere University guild president and current Democratic Party President General, Nobert Mao has said Makerere can only be fully at peace when the current vice chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe is dismissed.
Speaking at the Democratic Party weekly press conference, Mao said the university should be run by managers and accused Nawangwe of lacking basic management skills to run the institution of higher learning.
“Some people had high expectations in Nawangwe but you cannot run a university the way he is running Makerere University. A university should be run by professional managers who know how to handle people” Mao said.
Mao also reminisced about his days as Makerere University guild president when he convened a general assembly of students and dismissed the then vice chancellor of the university. Something that we are yet to see in the current era and times.
“You can be a professor but you have zero management skills” Mao added. He was accompanied by Martine Kawanga Rugamba, the DP Chapter chairman of Makerere Univeristy and Joshua Lawel Muhwezi, the chapter Speaker.
