The regulator of the higher education in Uganda, the National council for higher education (NCHE) has permitted Bishop Stuart University (BSU) to teach PhD in Religion & Modernity and Masters of Laws.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the NCHE deputy Executive Director Rev. Canon. Dr. Alex Kagume.
‘’I am pleased to inform you that after the consideration, council at its 64th meeting of 14th march 2022 under MIN 446/64/2022 accredited the academic programmes indicated below for a period of five years for the masters programme and ten for the PhD programme with effect from 14th March 2022,’’ Rev. Kagume communicated.
‘’I wish to remind you that under section 119(A) of the university and other tertiary institutions Act 2001 as amended, you shall not run any academic programmes that have not been accredited by NCHE. Please urge your staff members to implement these programmes in accordance with the regulations of NCHE. Officers of the NCHE shall revive the implementation during their periodic administrative and monitoring visits to your institution.
NCHE further allowed BSU to admit 10 and 25 students per year for PhD in religion and Masters of Laws respectively.
