Just a few weeks after the MAK students’ aggrieved strike over the issue of internet at their campus, their counterparts at Ndejje University must have borrowed a leaf to complain about their slow speed wireless internet at the Kampala Campus located in Mengo.
One student described the speed of data transfer as being ’super slow’ compared to the one at the main Campus. It is said to even load a Zero Facebook page, one has to wait for about thirty minutes. One student who spoke to Campus bee on anonymity had this to say
‘’we are tired of this slow internet, just imagine one time I clicked a page and went home to put my beans on fire for lunch, I came back after cooking the beans and got the page was still loading.”
Despite the fact that the Government under the Ministry of Higher Education passed a by-law and dispersed funds to some selected universities to provide a reliable Internet and to encourage research, the sorry state of the internet speed at Ndejje Kampala Campus still remains uncertain.
Many students who can afford have resorted to buying their own Data Bundles (MBs) while others are now customers of Rockspot, a company that sells internet bundles in the area.
However, according to sources at the Ndejje main campus in Luwero, the internet speed is good enough to download a movie; the Kampala Campus students are bitter and claim their tuition is just being wasted on other things thus being cheated.
