A Ndejje University student at the Kampala Campus of the university has committed suicide after he allegedly ‘misapriopriated’ his tuition fees for the second semester.
Moses Kyambadde, a second year student who was pursuing a course in Business Administration took his own life by drinking poision over the week.
Kyambadde misapropriated his tuition under unclear cirmumstances although one of his close friends revealed to Campus Bee that he had lost the money through sports betting.
“Kyambadde could not face his parents after losing his tuition of over a million shillings. I remember he used to tell me how tough his parents were, maybe that’s the real reason he decided to take his own life,” says his former classmate and friend Davis Tugume.
Kyambadde was found lying lifeless at his hostel with empty bottles of poision near his bed.
According to a close family source that opted for anonymity, the late descends from a humble background and his parents had been struggling through thick and thin to raise his tuition and offer him a decent education.
Amidsts all this, Kyambadde had thought of better ways of getting back an extra inch of money from his tuition that’s why he indulged himself into sports betting
Although it is a common practice for most campus students especially males to engage into affairs like sports betting with their tuition, it is also evident that most university students lack financial decipline and self restraints over matters relating to their hard earned tuion fees.
The late willl be buried today at his ancestral home in Kayunga Village. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
