For two days, 12 Universities, 06 judges were locked in vigorous sessions of writing code and developing all sorts of ideas in a bid to emerge with one App that will champion all at the Marie Stopes Uganda Health App Challenge.
The challenge that started from Friday ran till Saturday, saw various tech students come all in one house to code the day away to come up with the best app that will combat health issues. With a serene ambiance, super fast internet provided by Vodafone Uganda, Hackers (How they were labelled) wrote code and developed what they believed would be the solution and also beat the Health app challenge.
Universities from all over locked horns to nail this challenge but only one could walk away victorious. At the end of the event after all participants had showcased what they had developed, it was then up to the judges to pronounce who the winner was. After careful selection and scrutiny by the judges, Ndejje University’s Team MUNNO emerged winner.
Winners were given 6 months data by Vodafone, awarded with Scholarships at Hostalite and also received one year Health Medical Insurance. Team UTAMU emerged the 1st runners up at the Marie Stopes health app challenge. International Health Sciences University (IHSU) team came in at number 3 at the challenge.
Speaking shortly before the winner was announced, Marie Stopes Uganda Managing Director, Dr Carol Sekimpi called upon the participants to have healthy children and minds by choice not by chance.
The event was proudly sponsored by Marie Stopes Uganda, Vodafone Uganda, Hostalite Uganda who aided the events at the Hackathon.
