In a notice issued by the Academic Registrar, B. M. Sekabembe, Ndejje University students from campuses, Lady Irene and main campus Luweero, have all been expelled and asked to reapply. The governing council of the university that sat on November 27 resolved that all students have to pay for admission forms that cost shs50,000 to be re-admitted back into the campus. The students will however continue in their respective courses and years of study.
The students have also been asked to report back with their parents/guardians or sponsors on the reporting day of. which is January 5.
The students have also been asked to pay a fine of shs177,850. “No student shall be re-admitted unless he/she has fulfilled the above requirements. Semester II, 2014 / 15 shall begin on Saturday, 24 January 2015 (for Week-end) and Tuesday, 27 January 2015 (for Day and Evening programmes),” the notice read.
This comes after students held a strike and were all sent back home on November 20.
Students were protesting against retake fees increased by the university administration. Retake charges had been doubled from shs50,000 to shs100,000.
