The stiff competition among universities on the courses offered basing on affordability is quickly reaching the skies. After Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono, NdejjeUniversity has also announced that the campus will be admitting its first ever students pursuing medical courses under the newly formed faculty of health sciences starting early next year.

The university made the announcement through the office of the Vice Chancellor whic cited that the first students will be admitted early February next year 2019. Under the faculty of health sciences, the university will offer courses in bachelors of medicine and surgery, bachelors in nursing, public health, health management and medical laboratory.

According to the vice chancellor of the university Prof. Eriabu Lugujjo, the courses will be implemented in phases starting nextyear.

“We signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bombo Military hospital and our students will carry out health practicals from within that hospital. Our courses are already accredited by National Council of Higher Education (NICHE) and we will implement those health courses in phases with full capacity,” Prof. Eriabu told our reporter

The medical courses will be offered only at the main campus of the university in Luwero district. Currently, the university is in final stages of installing laboratory equipment to support the running of the courses with a fully equipped science laboratory and spacious facilities.

However, it is not yet clear how much tuition fees will be leviedfor such courses although speculation is that it will be a huge digit some of money compared to other courses already being offered by the university. Ndejje university becomes the second Anglican founded university to set the benchmark for offering medical courses after UCU.
