Defending champions Ndejje university has so far injected about Shs 200mllion into training sportsmen and do whatever it takes to retain their title of being a giant in East African University Games.
After winning last season’s games, the universitity has now injected all these millions in training, vaccinating and hiring the top medical doctors and nutritionists in a bid to make the best of the forthcoming games. Ndejje University team yesterday got vaccinated against Yellow fever at Bombo military hospital and has had several lectures from top nutritionists in the country that briefed them on staying healthy and being able to win in all the games.
Though the sports department was initially short of funds, the university seems to be spending huge sums of money to win in all the games. Training has also intensified at the campus and several safe measures have been put in place to uproot any circumstances that might lead to under performance of the team.
“We are already set to take a lion’s share at the games. We have hired career guidance personnel, nutritionists, doctors and sports medicine specialists to equip the team with everything it takes to bring the trophies home,” said Kato Muhumuza, Ndejje’s dean of students and university team leader.
