Ndejje university is set to start manufacturing and producing energy efficient Light emitting diode (LED) lights that convert electricity into light and use 85% less energy than incandescent ligting.
According to New Vision, Ndejje university last week signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese Chongqing Han-yoe technology Development company in the category of innovation and research to produce LED lights and it’s related accessories.
The memorandum of understanding that established a new friendship and cooperation between the university and the Chinese company was signed by the university vice chancellor Prof Eriab Lugujjo and prof Yue Ren the president of the Chinese Tech company at the office of the Vice president Edward Ssekandi .
According to the Vice President’s office, the LED products that will be produced will be marketed by MUMU Great Wall Uganda to ensure the sustainability of the project.
This project is expected to equip university students with skills and also to see university graduates and the community employed. Additionally, the raw materials to be used will initially be sourced from abroad however in the long run they will be extracted and sourced locally.
