Multitude of Ndejje University students are stranded after failing to ably use the online fees and registration system ZeeVersity which the university has embarked on this semester.
ZeeVersity is an online fees payment module which enables students to pay fees online without directly using bank slips which the University phased out last semester. Though mass sensitization of students on the system was carried out, hundreds of students expressed annoyance and ignorance to use the system. Most of the students do not know how to use the system which requires one to have access to internet to be able to log in.
Many others expressed dissatisfaction on the way the ICT team of the university sensitized the students on how to use the system.
“At our faculty, no one was sensitized about the system. How can they now expect us to use it? Besides very few of us have access to internet. The ICT team is not being fair to us”, Complained Roland Sseruyima a second year student of Social Sciences.
Some students argue that payment of fees in installments might be phased out and that will surely make them drop out of studies.
Anna Kwatsa, a third year student of education says, ” I have always paid fees in installments, I see ZeeVersity just making me poorer” She adds that she knows some students who have not even registered for the system, ZeeVersity will just make life harder.
However, Moses Nviri the head of ICT at Ndejje University says they are aware of the students’ complains and they will work to solve them with time.
“We know every new innovation comes with complains but we are not going to go back to the old system. ZeeVersity is user-friendly and saves a lot of time to queue at banks. Students should embrace the change from manual to this digital fees payment,” He says.
“Those who are having problems with the system should let us know so we address them in time. I assure students that the end result of using the system will be worth appreciating,” Nviri added.
