The 2024 edition of Eastern Africa University Games concluded yesterday, Friday, 20th December, at Maseno University in Kenya.
Ndejje University once again proved their dominance by winning the overall trophy for the eighth time in the competition’s history, after amassing 98 medals, including 34 golds, 35 silvers, and 29 bronzes.
Uganda Christian University (UCU) finished third overall with 15 gold medals, 10 silvers, and 7 bronzes for a total of 32 medals.
Notably, Makerere University finished fourth with 53 medals, including 14 golds, 19 silvers, and 20 bronzes. Gulu University also shone, finishing seventh overall with 21 medals.
Other Ugandan universities that participated include; Makerere University Business School (MUBS) with18 medals, Kampala International University (KIU) earned 20 medals, Kampala University with 18 medals, while Bishop Stuart University (BSU) claimed 9 medals.
Uganda Martyrs University stood out by winning their gold medal in football.
Other universities, such as Kyambogo University and Islamic University in Uganda, managed to secure only silver and bronze medals.
The next edition of the games is set to be hosted in Tanzania in 2026, another opportunity for Ugandan institutions to showcase their excellence.
