Twesiga’s lucid and outspoken nature, devoid of any treachery behaviour add to his publicly declared aspiration for the Nkumba University guild presidential post in next year’s elections may be the predetermined cause for his unjust suspension from campus.
In his statement he terms the university’s move to extrapolate him as “cheap politics”. “Literally there is no time as well as resources to waste more so when people want you to eat rice you didn’t pay for but in the name of cheap politics.”
According to the suspension letter handed to Nickson on December the 9th, he was banished from Nkumba university grounds for a deferral period of one semester for actively participating and leading the November 17th to 19th strike starting that every day of address.
But on the 15th December, Mr Twesiga wrote a letter to the campus’s vice chancellor, Prof. Hannigton Sseyendo. In the letter Nickson sought for redress into his unfair dismissal from campus without the university providing any substantial proof rather a bunch of hypothetical frivolous charges.
Mr Twesiga still pledges not guilty of all charges against him and therefore in his letter asks for an immediate hearing of his case perchance will be able to sit for his exams next year in January.
Many students and the university alumina have rose against this institution’s mediocrity with which it has handled this whole strike and post strike activities.
On that note the Nkumba University Law Society has set in a motion to petition the Ministry of Education against all Nkumba University’s counter actions in the after math of the strike and hope this time justice shall prevail.
Also other external parties have joined Nkumba university students struggle with the likes of Makerere University guild president and activist, H.E Ivan Bwowe offering a his assisting hand in this matter. “We shall extend a hand in helping the students out. Demos are as a result of admin failures in our universities. We strongly warn Nkumba admin that some of us are not ready to see our fellow students suffer at your hands.”
However the institution’s guild president H.E Julius Byarugaba continues to remain silent on this issue. As result many students have rendered him useless and a traitor who only got to power to quench his thirsty needs and build a CV.
