Nkumba University students are planning to stage a comeback strike on January 20, a day after they have reported back following the university closure for one and a half months. The Guild Prime Minister, Nsibuka Haruna has urged students to report early and fight for Justice.The protest will be against the unfair reporting terms and conditions especially the shs200,000 fine. Each student is expected to pay a over shs200,000 as a fine for damaging the university’s property and shs50,000 re-admission fee.
Ag.Uganda National Stufents Association President, Tumusiime Brian has expressed UNSA’s full support for students of Nkumba and Ndejje (that was also closed for a month overs strikes) as they continue in the struggle.
Nkumba University was closed in November 2014 after students held violent protests over the 100% increment of retake fees from Shs100, 000 to Shs200,000 that were introduced by the new Academic Registrar, Christine Oboyo.
