In a dramatic turn of events, Kasimba Noah has secured re-election as Nkumba University’s Guild President, emerging victorious after a closely contested race.
The 30th Nkumba University Guild Presidential election initially ended in a tie, sparking discussions and commotion among students and stakeholders.
On April 28, 2024, Kasimba Noah, representing the School of Business Administration, and NRM Candidate Benson Orisingura Teeka each garnered 381 votes out of the 980 votes cast.
Their counterpart, Zziwa Bashir, trailed behind with 185 votes. The announcement of the tie by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mr. Herbert Maseruka, prompted the invocation of Article 23 clause 1(d) of the General Elections guidelines, mandating a repeat of the elections for the tied candidates.
In the subsequent re-election held on May 4, 2024, Kasimba Noah emerged triumphant, defeating Benson Orisingura with 51% of the 983 valid votes cast.
This victory solidifies Noah’s position as the Guild President for the upcoming term, succeeding Ignatius Kangave Musaazi, whose reign was short-lived, lasting only close to five months.
The campus community eagerly anticipates the leadership and initiatives that Noah will bring to the table in his renewed tenure as Guild President.
