An intern attached to Urban Television has been beaten by goons at the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) headquarters.
The intern identified as Ainembabazi Nowamani, a student at Nkumba University, was part of the journalists that had gone to cover a press conference called for by Amb. Wasswa Birigwa (chairman FDC National Council).
Ainembabazi was beaten by goons and her phone reportedly stollen during a scuffle as journalists tried to access FDC headquarters.
Birigwa called for a press conference on Thursday at the party’s headquarters in Najjanankumbi to address the ongoing split within the party.
Birigwa was however blocked from accessing the FDC headquarters but later allowed. Similarly, journalists were denied access.
Birigwa’s press conference follows the parallel press conferences of the party’s heads Dr. Kizza Besigye and Patrick Oboi Amuriate.
The two factions are presently at disagreement over funds that were injected into the party by unknown sources.
