Nkumba university profound student, Twesigye Nickson a second year Bachelor of Business Administration student registered 2013/AUG/BBA/B12438, a prolific speaker and political evangelist amongst his peers will have to add a four month long vacation more to his Christmas break plans.
By the power invested in the Nkumba University Disciplinary Committee by the Students Code of Conduct under section 39 iv) i).
Last week on Thursday 11th November, Twesigye was officially suspended from the university and is to serve a definite full long four months semester suspension while his pals report back for their second semester for the academic year 2014/ 2015.
However in the letter addressed to him by the University’s vice chancellor and chairman students Affairs committee, Prof Hannigton Sengendo, Twesigye will on several occasions be expected to appear before the university’s disciplinary board to answer charges relate to; Organising and participating in a violent strike contrary to section 35(14) of the students code of conduct, Inciting violence contrary to section 34 b) and 34(14) of the students code of conduct, Wilful damage of University property contrary to Section 35(12) of the Students Code of Code as further investigations ensue.
Nkumba students have however vowed not to rest until the university council will hear their never attended to issues. On their Nkumba Students social network page, many have threatened to counter sue the university and acquit Twesigye of all these atrocious charges and maybe reverse the university’s decision on his suspension.
Twesigye isn’t the only student to pay for the devastating damage to University property from the strike that happened in between November 17th to November 19th 2014 that led to the subsequent closure of the institution of higher learning.
All students will be expected to pay a fine totalling to 200,000 Ugandan shillings above their usual tuition and functional fees before they can be cleared on 19th January 2015 for their second semester and exams.
