Earlier this year, Valley University’s 4 programmes mainly from the Faculty of Education were published among the many “expired” programmes in various Universities in Uganda.
News reaching us is that National Council for Higher Education has reviewed and re-accredited all the four programmes. These are;
Diploma in Primary Education
Bachelor of Primary Education
Bachelor of Arts with Education
Bachelor of Education
According to the Academic Registrar, Dr. Byabashaija Deusdedit, the University community is pleased to have these programmes re-accredited. “We are happy that NCHE our regulator has reviewed and accredited our academic programmes which were at the start of the year published as expired courses by media houses. As a University we are committed to offering Quality and Affordable education while following the set guidelines by the Ministry of Education and NCHE. I can assure you that all our programmes at VUST are accredited.” Dr. Byabashaija noted.
In the letter from NCHE, the regulatory body cautions VUST against running any courses that are not accredited.
“I wish to remind you that under section119(A) of the University and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 as amended, you shall not run any academic programmes that have not been accredited by National Council for Higher Education(NCHE). Please urge your staff members to implement these programmes in accordance with the regulations of NCHE. Officers of the NCHE shall review the Implementation during their periodic administrative and monitoring visits to your institution.” The letter reads.
It should be noted that Valley University of Science and Technology (VUST) is steadily becoming a leading University in Western Uganda as a result of offering quality, appropriate, effective and affordable Education.
