Semester II of the 2023/2024 Academic year already kicked off and government sponsored students at Makerere University are entitled to receiving their allowances.
The latest development in regard to the issue is that the students ought to be physically verified before further action is undertaken.
Its against this background that the dean of students Ms Winfred Kabumbuli has notified the concerned to use between now and tomorrow (Wednesday February 7, 2024 ) to be eligible.
“This Office has been requested by the University Directorate of Internal Audit to inform and mobilise all Government Sponsored Students for an urgent physical verification. The verification is scheduled for Tuesday February 6, 2024 and Wednesday February 7, 2024 between 8.30am and 5.00pm on each day at Yusuf Lule (CTF 2) Auditorium,” she noted.
She thus requested all Government Sponsored Students, all helpers of Students with Disabilities and all Sign Language Interpreters to appear in person with either the Student ID, Appointment Letter (for helpers and Interpreters) or an Original Admission letter on either of the above dates.
Accordingly, anyone that misses the verification risks missing out on allowances.
“Please NOTE that only verified Students, helpers and sign Language interpreters shall be paid Semester two allowance,” the Dean added.
