While handing over flags to both Makerere and Kyambogo University flag bearers ahead of the highly heated guild elections, the National President for Democratic Party Norbert Mao made it clear to the new flag bearers that violence is not the answer.
In a ceremony that doubled as press conference held at the party’s offices Tuesday afternoon, Mao handed over the DP flag to Makerere’s Ssemakula Edward Kinene who will run under UYD in the upcoming Guild elections at Makerere University. On the other side, Mao also handed over the flag to Kyambogo’s Zziwa Ronald who will represent DP in the highly anticipated guild elections 2018.
While giving his advice to the newly crowned DP representatives, Mao urged the two flag bearers to avoid violence in the upcoming elections.
Makerere’s Kinene will face off with FDC’s newly elected flag bearer Paapa Were Salim among other independent candidates battling for the office of Guild president.
