Some members of the Kyambogo University National Unity Platform (NUP) chapter have expressed their concern about NRM members that have infiltrated NUP.
These are disappointed with the party’s list of delegates which they say constitutes members of the NRM.
A source (identity withheld) revealed to the Bee that some of the party’s (NUP) delegates are ‘diehards’ of the NRM. The source pointed at a one Tonny Agea, one of the delegates, who had previously run for the LC5 councilor for persons with disabilities seat in Amolator district.
Some members who are dissatisfied with the delegates list have decided to quit the party.
In order to lay down a thumbs-up strategy to bring victory home in Kyambogo university’s forthcoming elections, NUP came up with a list of delegates who will vote for a strong candidate to lift the party’s flag. However, the list has become a topic to debate at the Banda based institution.
Mr Musiiri David, the head of institutions at NUP said the party needs as many members as possible and it welcomes everyone with the capacity to better its structures.
“Parties don’t manufacture support. As long as one is a student and has influence, he is welcomed,” Musiiri said in an interview with the Bee.
‘When I am eating chicken, I don’t want to know if it ate faeces or not.’ he humourously added.
According to Musiiri, for the success of the party, it has to welcome all members on board regardless of their party background. Kyambogo university NUP chapter is set to hold general assembly today 28th January 2022 in preparation for the forthcoming guild elections.
