The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has embarked on teaching students about the essence of saving funds for the future to alleviate poverty.
The statutory corporation took NSSF career – Expo to the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU)- Main campus in Mbale.
Speaking to the students , Patrick Ayota the deputy Managing Director NSSF told students to start saving with the little they have to prepare for their future.
“It is not how much you have in order to begin saving, just start with a little you have and this has made saving very easy because the more you save your money will increase and it will help you in future in case of any challenge ‘’ says Patrick Ayota.
Ayota also revealed that NSSF is dating 11 universities in the country to emphasize on creation, innovation and business ideas among students to fight the problem of unemployment.
“We are moving around in 11 Universities teaching our young men and women the future of saving and entrepreneurship which calls for innovations and creation of opportunities where there is a challenge, we also seeking for students with business ideas and help them execute their abilities in the competitive world today” He says.
Saleh Naminya, the Chief Executive Director of Casa Uganda Safaris Lodges who was one of the motivation speakers advised students to stop blaming the government on unemployment
“Youths should stop shifting blames on government on the increased unemployment instead should work together with the government through embracing its programmes like the Youth Livelihood Funds , NAADS, wealth creation and others,” says Saleh Naminya.
One IUIU student Juma Kisuuwa says the NSSF Career Expo was important because it instilled students with business enthusiasm to prepare for the future.
“The NSFF Career Expo is important to us as students. I am planning to start saving to prepare for my future. I think I should resort to digging out a business idea than waiting for someone to employ me,” he says.
